1 PhD and 1 Postdoctoral Position in Condensed Matter Theory / Theoretical Chemistry
Technical University of Munich is seeking two Research Associates (f/m/d) one for a PhD position and one for a Postdoctoral position, both in the fields of electronic structure theory and electron dynamics modeling for new materials. Project Description: Our research group at TU Munich (TUM) is developing computational approaches aimed at advancing theoretical knowledge in the strategic fields of solar energy conversion and charge transport. The group is part of the Cluster of Excellence «e-conversion» and benefits from a network of highest-level experimental and theoretical collaborations. TUM is ranked among the top universities in Europe. Your activities will focus on the development of new electronic structure simulations and modelling of dynamical processes (including excitonic properties, electronic transport). The postdoc position will focus on advancing the Linear-Scaling Wannier Optics methodology within the Bethe-Salpeter Equation framework. The PhD position will focus on charge transport in polymer fibers. The ability to work in a team and a strong motivation to advance the scientific project are expected. As the successful PhD candidate, you will benefit from the membership at the TUM Graduate School, be part of an active international scientific network and present your results in national and international conferences.
For a successful application, candidates must possess a Master's degree in Physics or Chemistry with a very good grade by the start of the PhD project. The candidates are expected to have a background in theory and interest and experience with computer simulations. They should enjoy taking on new challenges and have first experience with programming. Knowledge of ab initio simulations would be of great advantage. Very good communication and writing skills in English are further expected. Postdoc candidates are expected to have an excellent PhD.
